EPIC & Electoral Roll

      For every constituency, there is a list of voters that is called the Electoral Roll. To be able to exercise your vote, your name must be in the Electoral Roll of the area of your residence, according to Article 326 of the Constitution. Further to make the process transparent and for the ease of the citizen Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC). It was first introduced in 1993 during the tenure of the Chief Election Commissioner TN Seshan. The Election Commission of India has directed that non standard EPIC/Voter ID Card numbers (old series card i.e. DL/01/001/000000) should be converted to standard 10 digit alphanumeric numbers for making EPIC/Voter ID Card number uniform for all electors. (EPIC) have to produce the Electors Photo Identity Card for their identification at the polling station before casting their votes. Those electors who are not able to produce the EPIC shall produce one of the following alternative photo identity documents for establishing their identity.

Approximately 70 million additional individuals of working age (15-59 years) are expected to enter the country’s labor force by 2023 – using the same estimation model, the total workforce will then include approximately 404.15 million people. This will include 59 million youth (individuals aged 15-30 years), according to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) 2017-2018. India is a country today with 65% of its youth in the working age group. If ever there is a way to reap this demographic advantage, it has to be through skill development of the youth so that they add not only to their personal growth, but to the country’s economic growth as well.
